Shopify Development Liquid, Hydrogen and B2B

Shopify development for brands and agencies, from a Shopify Partner: custom Liquid themes, Hydrogen headless storefronts and B2B buying flows. A Shopify Health Check takes about a week and ends with a prioritised fix list, and you work directly with the engineer who writes the code.

When Shopify work starts to matter

Most stores do not need a rebuild. They need someone who can see which of these problems is actually costing them, and fix that first.

  • Your theme is slow and every change breaks something

  • You need B2B pricing and a buying flow a theme cannot do

  • You are moving to Hydrogen and need someone who has done it

  • Tracking numbers in GA4 and Shopify do not match

  • Your apps are piling up and slowing the store

  • You need a developer who works inside your agency's process

What I do on Shopify

Liquid themes

  • Custom themes built from a design, or a refactor of the theme you already have
  • Sections and blocks your team can edit without calling a developer
  • Image optimization and Core Web Vitals work, measured before and after
  • Accessibility checks against WCAG for templates, forms and navigation

Hydrogen headless storefronts

  • Shopify Hydrogen storefronts with Remix and React, including B2B
  • Product pages for complex products that a theme template cannot present well
  • Bot and fraud mitigation on the storefront
  • Automated tests for the parts of the app that change most often

Integrations and migrations

  • Migrations from other platforms or from an older theme
  • App integrations, Klaviyo and AppsFlyer smart banners
  • Cleaning up apps that duplicate each other or load on every page

Tracking that matches

  • GTM, GA4 and Meta Pixel set up so that orders in GA4 match Shopify
  • Google tag migrations without losing conversion history
  • Consent handling that respects what the visitor chose

Entry offer

Shopify Health Check one week, one prioritised list

The best first step for a store that feels slow, fragile or hard to measure. I review the store as it runs today and give you a list of fixes in the order I would do them, with the reason for each.

  1. 01Days 1 to 2

    Performance and theme

Core Web Vitals on real templates, theme code quality, image handling and the apps that load on every page.

  2. 02Days 3 to 4

    Tracking and accessibility

GA4, GTM and Meta events against real orders, consent behaviour, and an accessibility check of the main buying path.

  3. 03Day 5

    Findings and plan

A call where I walk you through the findings, then a written, prioritised fix list you can give to any developer, including me.

What you get

  • Performance, theme and app audit
  • Tracking audit (GA4, GTM, Meta)
  • Accessibility check of the buying path
  • Prioritised fix list with effort estimates
  • A walkthrough call

Scope and price agreed after a call.

Typical engagement

A few days for fixes and improvements, two to six weeks for a theme, six to twelve weeks for a Hydrogen storefront. Most clients start with the Health Check or a small fix, so we both see how the other works before anything big.

Ways to work together

  • Fixed-scope project

Clear deliverables, timeline and price agreed up front.

  • Monthly retainer

Ongoing improvements, maintenance and support for your store or product.

  • Embedded engineer

I join your team as a senior contractor through ANODA.

How I work one senior engineer, a team of agents

I work through ANODA Loop: AI agents draft code, tests and documentation, and I decide, review and sign off. You get one accountable senior engineer, with the throughput of a small team.

Questions about this service

Liquid or Hydrogen: which one do I need?

Most stores are better served by a well-built Liquid theme: it is cheaper to run and your team can edit it. Hydrogen makes sense when you need full control over the buying flow, custom product experiences or performance a theme cannot reach. I wrote down the questions I ask in the post linked above.

Can you improve our existing theme instead of rebuilding it?

Yes, and that is usually where I start. A refactor of the slowest templates and a cleanup of apps often gives most of the benefit of a rebuild for a fraction of the effort.

Can you work with our agency or our designer?

Yes. I regularly work inside other teams' processes: their tools, their reviews and their release rhythm. If you are an agency, the page for agencies explains how I work as a contractor.

Why do GA4 and Shopify show different order numbers?

Usually because of consent, duplicate or missing purchase events, or a Google tag migration that was only half done. Some difference is normal when visitors decline cookies. The Health Check tells you how much of the gap is real and how to close it.

What does the Health Check cost?

Scope and price are agreed after a short call, because a single-market store and a multi-market B2B store take different amounts of work. I do not publish prices on the site.

Have a project in mind? Let us talk it through.

A short call is the fastest way to find out whether I am the right person for it. If I am not, I will tell you.
